About The Russell Street Medical Centre Practice
The original practice was opened in the old Methodist Parsonage in William Street (now the Brooke Moore Centre) in 1888 by Dr John Brooke Moore. Dr John was joined by his son Brooke Moore (Brookie) in 1927 and he practiced there until his death in 1968. The present site was occupied in 1974.
RSMC remains a GP owned and operated general practice offering comprehensive medical care to the Bathurst community.
The evolution of RSMC over the past 125 years has allowed us to provide a thoroughly up-to-date service while retaining the best features of a more traditional practice, and retaining a “cradle to grave” culture of a family practice.
Our practice cares for a diverse population group ranging from families with young children to the very elderly, from varying socio-economic and ethnic demographics. Providing health care services to the Indigenous populations is a priority of the doctors and staff at this surgery.
A fundamental principle of RSMC is to ensure each patient’s dignity, rights, privacy and safety are safeguarded by doctors and staff associated with this practice.
The provision of high quality health care requires a doctor patient relationship of trust and confidentiality consistent with our commitment to quality care. This practice has developed a policy to protect patient privacy in compliance with privacy regulations. Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff. They may require some information from you to decide how to best help you. All information is treated in total confidence.
