This practice provides full general and family medical services including patients in hospitals and nursing homes, and home visits when necessary.

RSMC has a long tradition of delivering comprehensive medical care, based on “best practice” principals and motivatin patients to take an active role in their own health care.

Antenatal Care
Antenatal care is offered by experienced General Practitioners.

Vaccinations
We provide Government funded vaccines and a range of vaccines available for purchase. Travel immunisations and advice is available. Dr Atmaram Rana and Dr Sarah Koffmann are certified Yellow Fever vaccine providers.

Surgical Procedures – (Under local anesthetic)
Cryotherapy of warts & sunspots and removal of some skin lesions, cyst & moles. Local anaesthetic procedures for Skin Cancer, including local skin flaps & skin grafts. Tongue Tie and Vasectomy are also performed.

Family Planning
Women & men are welcome to discuss contraception with the doctors. We provide a range of services including fitting of IUDs, Implants, injections & vasectomy as above.

Women’s Health
RSMC GP’s provide a wide range of women’s health care including birth control, gynecology, sexual health, breast care, menopause and osteoporosis. A recall system is in place to remind women when their cervical screening is due. You will be sent a recall notification (via SMS or letter) when your next cervical smear is due.

Men’s Health
Routine health checks for men of all ages are encouraged. Sexual Health & Impotence Advice & Treatment is also available. Health checks for men 45 to 49 years of age are encouraged and this service is Bulk Billed.

Musculoskeletal
Including rehabilitation & sports medicine. Our GP’s can provide short term anti-inflammatory treatment but if further treatment is required GP’s refer for specialist advice.

Diabetes Education
Our GPs provide suppport and counselling, and referrals where required. We have the services of a Credentialed Diabetes Educator in-house at RSMC

Psychological Service & Mental Health
Our GP’s are here to discuss and assist you with any mental health concerns which include referral to Psychological or Psychiatric Services. Psychologist Dr Robyn Vines hold regular sessions at this practice. GP’s can refer to Dr Vines and other mental health providers.

Private Medicals, Pre-employment, Insurance & Workcover
RSMC provides pre-employment medicals and employers have various criterion, dependent on the job requirements. On-site spirometry and drug & alcohol testing are available should the employer require this screening. Medical Examination for special purposes, e.g insurance, taxi/bus driver, trotting driver medicals are available. Our GP’s are also experienced in providing Workcover services. A longer appointment is required for Medical Examiniations so please advise our receptionist when scheduling your appointment and bring all documentation to your appointment.

Respiratory Health
Spirometry service is available on request. Your doctor will review the reading and provide any information & treatment required.

Aged Care
RSMC provides aged health assessments to patients 75 years and older. Our practice also works closely with the Aged Care Team to provide a coordinated approach to gaining day to day assistance to enable these patients to live in their own homes.

Indigenous Health – “Closing the Gap”
RSMC GP’s provide services to assist our ASTI patients in early detection, prevention and mangement of chronic disease. Our practice is registered with the Closing the Gap initiative and works collaboratively with the Indigenous Chronic Disease Clinic at Kelso and Marrabinya Indigenous Health Support Service.

Travel Medicine
We provide advice and an immunisation service to meet your travel needs. Please check your requirements with us 8 weeks before your departure. Dr Hal Rikard-Bell and Dr Sarah Koffmann are authorised Yellow Fever Providers. This vaccine is kept in stock.

Skin Clinic & Dermatology
Skin Cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer and having regular skin checks will help you be aware of any skin changes. RSMC provides skin checks within our dedicated skin clinics staffed by our experienced GP’s: Dr Hal Rikard-Bell, Dr Goka Avinash, Dr Atmaram Rana and Dr Marcus Hayward. Due to demand from patients, additional clinics have been scheduled. Our clinics offer ‘top to toe’ examinations including diagnostic & treatment services for skin cancers. These include cryotherapy, biopsies, surgical excision, skin flap repairs, curettage and diathermy.

Recalls
This practice is committed to preventative care and uses a “Recall and Reminder” system to provide care for our patients. This reminder system will include checks for diabetes, asthma, skin checks, childhood immunisations, aged health assessments and cervical cancer.

We may issue you a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be part of this system please notify your Doctor or reception.

Weight Loss Supervision & Advice, Pre-Operative Medical Examination, Wound Care, Smoking Cessation help & advice, Blood Pressure Check, INR Monitoring, ECG, Nebuliser Therapy & Pathology Collection Service. We refer X-Ray & Ultrasound investigations and they are performed locally. This practice has 3 Registered Nurses on staff.
