Australian General Practice Training Programme (AGPT)
RSMC has been involved in training general practitioners for 35 years and is an accredited training practice.
Beyond Medical Education (BME) is the local accredited AGPT training provider that offers training pathways to general practitioners seeking professional recognition by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).
Our highly qualified and experienced GPs offer Registrars a wealth of training experience in both general practice and hospital settings.
The Registrars involved in the training program have completed their hospital-based experience and spend a minimum of 6 months with our practice under the supervision of our experienced GPs.
RSMC are seeking Registrars to join our well established GP training practice. Please contact Dianne McKay, Practice Manager, for more information.
Student Doctors/Registered Nurses
The GPs at RSMC are supervisors with the University of Sydney School Of Rural Health and Conjoint Lecturers with the University of Sydney Rural Clinical School whose aim is to produce medical graduates who are committed to compassionate health care of the highest quality.
The delivery of both these programs in rural settings give students both excellence in medical experience as well as the benefits of a rural lifestyle to encourage graduates to return to live and practice in rural communities.
Dr Hal Rikard-Bell and Dr John Sandra are both John Flynn Placement Programs (JFPP) mentors. JFPP was established to attract more doctors to rural and remote areas of workforce shortage and improve the quality of healthcare for local communities.
Our practice nurses are also involved in the supervising of nursing students enrolled at Charles Stuart University to encourage graduates to work as practice nurses in rural general practice.
As part of these training programs a medical student may be with your Doctor at times. Patients are assured that all matters discussed remain confidential. If you do not wish the student to sit in with the doctor during your consultation, please do not hesitate to advise your doctor or reception staff.
